The official Chennai Express trailer has been posted.
The movie is scheduled to be released in India on 9 August 2013, the eve of Ramzan Id/Eid-ul-Fitar (EID).
The film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in their second jodi pairing after Om Shanti Om. The movie is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment which was founded in 2004 by Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan.
According to the description from director Rohit Shetty on IMDB:
It's a hard-core commercial film with a romantic angle. The story is about this man's travel from Mumbai to Rameswaram and what happens during the journey. There is a lot of romance keeping Shah Rukh in mind but it will also be a typical Rohit Shetty film with cars blowing [up] and lots of action.
Refusing to use a body double, Shah Rukh Khan performed his own daring stunts in Chennai Express. Some stunts led to him injuring his right shoulder and he underwent shoulder surgery at Lilavati Hospital in May 2013.
Bollywoodlife.com provides further details about the film's storyline:
It begins with the character played by SRK losing his [grand]father. After a little bit of rona-dhona, our hero has to go to Chennai to immerse his [grand]father’s ashes. Khan takes a train from Mumbai to Chennai and on the way bumps into Deepika. As expected, he falls head over heels in love with her. The rest of the film is about how their life changes once they get off the train, the Chennai Express.
UPDATE 8 August 2013: No word yet on when the movie will be released worldwide. The film was released worldwide on 8/9 August. Enjoy the trailer!
