Ten years ago, Farah Khan made her directorial debut with the action comedy film Main Hoon Na. Released on 30 April 2004, this film featured an exciting story performed by an outstanding cast featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Sunil Shetty, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao, Naseeruddin Shah, Kirron Kher, and Boman Irani.
A brilliant Bollywood musical that is part thriller and part back-to-school comedy - with a political message to boot - the film won several awards including:
- Filmfare Award for Best Music Director (Anu Malik),
- Star Screen Award for Best Music (Anu Malik),
- Star Screen Award for Best Male Playback Singer (Sonu Nigam),
- Zee Cine Award for Best Debuting Director (Farah Khan), and
- Zee Cine Award for Best Music Director (Anu Malik).
Shah Rukh Khan was nominated for Best Actor for Main Hoon Na but ultimately lost out to himself, winning best actor for two other films also released in 2004 - Swades and Veer-Zaara.
