The 1999 film Baadshah is like a fine wine - it has a complexity of character and continues to get better with age.
While the movie didn't win any film awards, it had a good opening and ended up being somewhat of a hit worldwide. The film continues to be loved by Shah Rukh Khan and Johnny Lever fans the world over. Leveraging the comic skills of these two actors, director brothers Abbas-Mustan took the humorous story written by Neeraj Vora and Shyam Goel and supersized it.
The film is full of zany and hilarious scenes. The characters are quirky and some of the situations are contrived - but that is all part of the fun. And you have to appreciate dialogue like "the amalgamation before the fluctuation and ramification of the constitutional ambiguity and the judicial paradoxical position can be a verbal turmoil." Eventually, the film takes a serious note, but even then the resolution comes with a good dose of humor. The film led to the title "Baadshah" ("King") becoming closely associated with Shah Rukh Khan.
Here are 15 reasons to celebrate Baadshah.
