Often called the "Bollywood Oscars", this year's International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards weekend was held in Madrid from 23-26 June 2016. The nominees for #IIFAMadrid were selected during the Voting Weekend held 29 April-1 May 2016 and voted on by film academy members and fans all over the world in the weeks leading up to the event.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's historical epic Bajirao Mastani led the 17th IIFA awards with eight nominations, including best director and best picture.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Piku, Talvar and Tanu Weds Manu Returns also received multiple awards. Priyanka Chopra won an IIFA Award for Woman of the Year and Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty were named Best Debut Couple.
